Homes in good school catchment areas prove popular

Further evidence has emerged to show that parents of school-age
children are increasingly looking to buy homes in locations close
to good schools, giving this priority over other considerations
when choosing where to live.
Estate agent George Franks told the Daily Telegraph that one of the
areas he covers, between Wandsworth Common and Clapham Common in
south London, has attracted a lot of attention from buyers
interested in this factor.
He said: "We have had a large handful of enquiries over the last
two weeks in the Clapham office, from people wanting to know about
the catchment areas of the good primary schools and what houses
there cost to buy or rent."
The comments Mr Franks made back up recent research by investment
management firm Fidelity International into the issue.
It reported earlier this month that the average price of a home in
the vicinity of a good school was £50,000 higher than that of
a house that was not.
