Land Registry housing statistics published
The Land Registry has published figures for house prices in
October, revealing a further dip in prices in England and
Wales.
During the month the average price fall was 1.5 per cent.
The district that defied the trend most was the Isle of Anglesey,
which saw a 3.1 per cent rise in the month and is up by one per
cent overall for the past year.
Other north Wales counties to see a monthly rise were Denbighshire
(2.1 per cent) and Flintshire (1.4 per cent).
The best performing city was Wolverhampton, where prices increased
by 2.2 per cent.
While most places reflected the overall downward trend, one notable
fact is that the decline was similar to the 1.3 per cent fall for
the whole of Britain that Nationwide recorded for the month.
This week Nationwide revealed the November drop was only 0.4 per
cent, suggesting that the house price decline could be running out
of steam.
If next month's Land Registry figures indicate a similar
deceleration, this may constitute evidence that the bottom of the
market could be close.
